At 3 weeks and 4 days postpartum my husband and I took our newborn and toddler on a little adventure. A 3 hour drive to the Mesa Phoenix airport, an 1.5 hours flight to Stockton, Ca and a 20 minute drive to my sisters in Ripon. I just had to make it home for my baby sisters first baby shower! We made it there and back in one piece, minus one piece of luggage (we were too tired to notice we didn’t have it). Thank God the airport has it and that we have family in the area that can pick it up. Naomi did great on the flight there and back, and Cayn was just as expected while he’s going through his terrific twos 😉
Samanthas’ baby shower came together so nicely thanks to the help of so many people! August is always a busy month for our family, the first two weeks we pretty much celebrate a birthday daily. I just had Naomi around the end of July and Kaylah just celebrated the big 3-0, so we wanted to keep the shower simple.
We had two key features, a back drop and food (which also helped keep the party on budget). The ballon wall came out gorgeous thank you to Pinterest for inspiration and Kaylee (Samantha’s sister-in-law) for pulling it together. Finally, Justin hand made the “Lana Rose” sign (Esty shop opening soon).
For favors Kaylah made her popular shower scrubs. Lavender or Peppermint, what’s your flavor of choice?. Of course my mom has to use her cricket at every event so she made these adorable leaf tags to finish it off.
Every party needs fresh flowers. We went to Costco and picked up a few bouquets, and then Kaylah tried to show me how to make a great center piece. I thought you just cut and place a flower in a vase, but I guess there is a whole system for flower arrangements (if you would like Kaylah to show you a quick tutorial comment below)! And finally a touch of a little more greenery, Kaylah grows these leafs in her garden. It would be great if someone could tell us what the name of this plant is. I tried doing some research on it but couldn’t find an answer.
Lastly, the food! We kept it simple, a few appetizers like meat, cheese and crackers, and my Aunty’s deviled eggs. Two different salads, and a big batch of homemade macaroni for the kiddos from my parents restaurant. For all you dessert lovers, we picked up some of Mr Ts famous donuts.
The shower turned out amazing. We had so much fun! Now we just wait for the arrival of Lana Rose. Comment below with a guess of her arrival date! She is supposed to be due September 25th buuutttt Kaylah was 10 days late with each of her babes, I was induced at 40 weeks with Cayn and I had Naomi 12 days past my due date. My mom said she had all of us before our due dates. My guess is September 30th, Cayns birthday!!
