For us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
My 6 year old daughter memorized this for her Kindergarten class memory verse this week. She is learning so much this year, this verse has got to be one of my favorites.
Christmas is one of our favorite holidays. This year i got a little creative with our decor and I hope it inspires you to as well. Merry Christmas!! xo, Kaylah
First things first, buy fresh garland
My original plan was to buy garland and mistletoe, within minutes I had filled an entire cart with fresh greenery! Also the customer service at Trader Joe’s is always amazing. I was shopping with my two boys and was assisted without asking more than once.
Trader Joe’s shopping list:
- 2 fresh garlands
- 4 bundles of holly
- 4 bundles of mixed greenery
- 2 fresh box wreaths
- 1 fresh mistletoe
- 1 bundle of Eucalyptus
Doormat from Target, I linked a similar one.
I am always re purposing things! Below you see a tin bucket holding fresh greenery, prior to this it was in the kids play room full of toys! I originally bought it for my daughters Elsa and Anna themed birthday party to hold drinks three years ago.
This is fake wreath I added branches of Eucalyptus and mixed greenery.
Every year I try to convince my husband we should buy a real Christmas tree, clearly I have yet to win that battle. We purchased our fake tree three years ago post Christmas on clearance. We got a great deal on it. Every year a strand of lights would go out and we would throw on a strand of working lights. This year I couldn’t get a single strand to light up. We spent two nights ripping off all the old lights (it was a major pain) but it was worth it. Our tree may not be a real tree but I promise it looks real! The lacking of Christmas tree scent was made up for with all the fresh garland.
Christmas tree decor:
- Felt ball garland etsy
- Faux fur tree skirt target
- Ornaments- Black- Hearth and Hand with Magnolia
A chandelier is a major focal point, decorating it adds so much to the space. One of my close friends convinced me to decorate ours and now we do it for almost every holiday. By using real and fake garland along with holly berries on a wire help keep everything in tact. I suggest starting with Pinterest for inspo, and then going to the nearest craft store.
My centerpiece is 3 faux birch wood candle holders that I converted into vases. Again I used a combination of real and fake greenery.
Our living room
- Barn wood rustic bookcase ladder amazon
- Knitted white blanket amazon
- faux Christmas tree
- Red Christmas tree
- Tin vase
- Wooden tree slice
- P E A C E stocking holders (that i spray painted gold, originally they were brown)
- Metal pitcher (originally metal, i spray painted it white)
- Gold basket
- Pine tree lantern
- Mini vase (I have a ton of these little guys they are great to have on hand)
- Bronze bucket (remote holder)
Hot Cocoa station
This is probably the kids favorite. Normally this tray holds just coffee, I threw a few candy canes and cocoa in mason jars and BAM!
Felt letter board
These changeable letter signs are so cute! They bring the simplest spaces to life. One of my sweet friends gave me this sign to me for Christmas and I love it! We were inspired by our local Pilates studio (STUDIO JOY) they had a giant version with this exact saying on it.
Merry Christmas!! xo, Kaylah
