When Tieghan and I found out that we were going to become parents we were thrilled! We weren’t so thrilled to find out how much having a baby was going to cost. Tieghan and I knew that diapers and wipes were going to be costly, but not to mention how expensive baby products are! With me becoming a SAHM, (stay at home mom) we knew we would be taking a huge pay cut and I had to compromise on my expensive taste. It seemed to me that the more affordable a product was, the less attractive it was, but I was determined to find products that were affordable and fashionable…and I did. Here are my favorite baby products on a budget.
When it came to looking for a stroller I knew I wanted a travel system and I really wanted the ones that had the bassinet with great safety ratings. To my disappointment the only ones I could find were extremely out of budget, starting at around $700. Then, finally, another mommy-to-be posted on social media about how her mother bought her this great travel system. I did a little more research and looked up some YouTube reviews and really fell in love with this set. The safety ratings were great, its even been roll over tested. The stroller also grows with baby from bassinet to toddler seating. I got mine for a steal at $200, but you can find it on Amazon for a little under $300.
This nursing pillow has been my breast friend, literally. Lol. I was constantly hunched over while nursing and Lana just sunk into pillows making it so uncomfortable to breastfeed. My sister Bee was kind enough to send me this nursing pillow and it was life changing. Unlike most pillows this one was firm for Lana to lay in perfect position while nursing. It also helps with back support while I’m nursing and eliminates soreness in my neck and lower back. This retails for around $35 on Amazon.
Tieghan and I pretty much perfected our swaddling wrap, but Lana was like Hoodini and still managed to wiggle out of them. After endless hours of re wrapping we decided to use one of the swaddling jackets that someone had purchased for us. It was a miracle! The first time we put her in it she slept for 3 hours straight. These swaddle blankets can retail for around $10.
Baby wearing was important to me and I heard a lot of great things about the k’tan. I love how affordable it is compared to most baby wearing slings or wraps. This one is pre done for you so she just slips right into it in seconds. We even got Tieghan one too and it’s Lana’s favorite spot. She naps in it for hours making it easy for us to do things around the house! These retail for about $50.
Tieghan and I had bought the RockaRoo because we heard it was a must have…well Lana hated it. A few momma friends reached out and mentioned that their little one loved the Fisher Price Rock n Play Sleeper. We did a little research and decided to buy the deluxe version. Lana loves it! The Deluxe has a few more features like the vibration setting and different music options. This is totally affordable and baby girl has slept in it up to 8 hours! Winning! Amazon retails this for around $50-$70.
*bonus-it also folds making it portable*
